As President of Broadway Construction Group, Steven Hurwitz is responsible for overseeing strategy, growth, and operations. Since the onset of his career, he has remained relentlessly committed to driving seamless execution and ensuring that all services exceed client expectations.
After developing numerous projects in New York City utilizing the services of other Construction Managers, Steven reached the conclusion that there was a deep need for construction managers that act like an Owner, think like an Owner, and put the needs of an Owner first. It was out of this realization that Broadway Construction Group was born. Steven takes great pride in innovation, value engineering, and operating efficiency. Identifying the most cost effective way to realize the client’s vision is what Broadway Construction Group is all about.
Steven also serves as President of GFI Development Company, where he oversees project acquisition and development. Some notable completions include: The Beekman Hotel and Residences, Ace NY, The Nomad Hotel, 470 Vanderbilt Avenue, 144 North 8th Street, and Century Village.
With over 15 years in the industry, Steven has provided the leadership and insight that has established Broadway Construction Group as one of the most innovative and reputable construction firms in New York City. To date, he has completed more than $1B in development and construction projects, ranging from office buildings and residential condos to retail and hotel properties.
Prior to joining GFI Development Company in 2006, Steven was a Senior Analyst in Ernst & Young’s Real Estate Transaction Group, working closely with major Wall Street lenders, opportunity funds and real estate investment trusts. Earlier, he worked as Auditor at PriceWaterhouseCoopers, Hedge Fund and Private Equity Group.
Steven graduated from the University of Maryland with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. He is a licensed CPA in the State of New York and serves on the board of directors for the Downtown Brooklyn Partnership and Fulton Street Alliance.Steven Hurwitz
